William S. Davis

2003

William S. Davis

Davis’ family arrived in Texas in 1876, the same year as the railroad. He was instrumental in the building of Fort Worth’s Omni Theater. With an original plan to link the cultural district with downtown and the Fort Worth Stockyards, Davis worked to restore the Tarantula Railroad which travels to the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District daily. Today the Tarantula Train operates over approximately 21 miles of track, linking the historic communities of Grapevine, Colleyville, Smithfield, and the Fort Worth Stockyards.
